Allyl alcohol is an intermediate in the production of glycerin, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, perfumes and cosmetics. It is also a raw material for producing diallyl phthalate resin and bis(2,3-dibromopropyl) fumarate. Silane derivatives of allyl alcohol and copolymers with styrene are widely used in the coatings and fiberglass industries. Allyl carbamate can be used in the photosensitive polyurethane coatings and casting industries. The allyl alcohol molecule has an alcoholic hydroxyl group and an olefinic double bond, and can be reacted with a compound such as an ether, an ester or an acetal to prepare various products. |
